About Brandy

Brandy is a mental health storyteller, artist, and speaker who shares honest, hopeful reflections on living with chronic depression and finding reasons to keep going after losing hope. Through her powerful talks and creative work, she brings awareness to what depression and suicidal ideation can truly look like — often quiet, hidden, and misunderstood — and helps others feel seen, validated, and less alone.

Depression has been a shadow in Brandy’s life since childhood. Growing up with undiagnosed ADHD, a complicated home environment, and an ever-present sense of confusion and self-judgment, she learned early to mask her pain behind ambition. She often felt “lazy” despite her drive, “too sensitive” despite her pain, and “unaccomplished” despite her youth. It wasn’t until her late twenties that Brandy was formally diagnosed with depression and began attending regular therapy — a turning point that gave language and understanding to what she had silently carried for so long.

In the summer of 2024, Brandy experienced one of the darkest depressive episodes of her life. Hope was seemingly lost and the future she had envisioned for herself seemed no longer possible. She was ready to give up. Yet, a small part of her still wanted to live. That quiet will to survive led her to seek help through an intensive outpatient program, a decision that became a lifeline and the beginning of a meaningful, ongoing healing journey. Though recovery was not linear or easy, it marked the moment she began to reclaim her life and her voice.

Brandy now uses her voice to humanize mental illness and spark compassionate conversations in schools, workplaces, and communities. Her storytelling blends vulnerability with grounded hope, inviting audiences to see healing not as a straight line, but as an ongoing act of courage and self-connection.

Brandy is available to speak at conferences, organizations, and schools about topics including depression awareness, navigating recovery, and creating supportive environments for mental health. Her mission is to remind people that even in the darkest moments, healing is still possible.
